landwave: neck tie

If you’ve been wondering about those curvy blue mounds on Washington Street in Boston’s South End, the mystery is solved. LandWave—a public artwork designed by Shauna Gillies-Smith of Ground—marks the historic “Neck” that linked downtown Boston to the mainland and was officially dedicated yesterday by Mayor Menino. Visual Dialogue created the stainless steel information panel on the piece explaining the metaphor of land that was once water. Stop by and take a closer look next time you’re at Myers+Chang or a little league game at Peter’s Park.
